A little bit about us..

Special Needs Circle - East Midlands is a registered charity run entirely by Volunteers who all have children with special needs and disabilities.

Our aims are to support families with who have a child or children with special needs and disabilities.

We do this by running workshops, training sessions, stay and play family sessions (Holiday Time only) and support groups.

Our support groups run in Swadlincote and now Leicester and there is always a friendly face and a listening ear waiting to hear your story and on hand to help you. We will even throw in a cuppa and some biscuits or cakes. We also have our moving forward walking group which meets every fortnight throughout term time.

Can't make a group meeting? Don't worry we also provide support through social media which can be accessed by clicking on the icons on this page. Don't forget to fill in a FREE membership form by clicking on the membership page first.

We welcome parent carers of children with additional needs and disabilities including those undergoing diagnosis to join us. We run two pages on Facebook including a closed support group (members only) for parents and carers to chat and share ideas. This can be found by clicking the Facebook icon at the top of the page.

If we find we cannot help you then we can usually signpost you to someone who can as we work with many other Organisations.

If you are not on social media you can book on any of our events using EVENTBRIGHT just search for Special Needs Circle.

Being parents of special needs children ourselves we more than understand the roller coaster of emotions and the fights we have bringing up a child or children with additional needs. The endless appointments, form filling, stress and upset that can leave you feeling lonely and confused. We are here to help you navigate the maze and empower you on your journey. So come and join us and our 1600+ members! We would love to meet you!

How can we help you?

Our support meetings are there to help you.

The aims of these meeting are to CONNECT you with not only other parent carers but other Organisations and professionals who are there to help guide you on your journey and give you relevant and informative information.

For information on our events please have a look at our support page by clicking on the tab. Unless stated we welcome children to our events under adult supervision. All our volunteers have completed training including safeguarding and first aid. If you can't make a meeting drop us an email if you need any help and one of our Volunteers will be in touch. Are you Home Educating your child with SEND?

From September 2018 we will be running a new group for children who are home educated.

Our fully insured sessions are free and are subsidised by Derbyshire County Council and The Health & Wellbeing Fund.

Sessions are around 2 hours long and get booked up quickly so you have to be quick.

From sport to life skills, cooking to craft the sessions offer a wide variety of something for everyone.

Each session will be themed ensuring that your child will have great fun!! Parents must stay on the premises during the sessions.

Booking for these sessions is available through EVENTBRIGHT, Facebook or in our workshop section on this website.

Holiday Stay & Play

We know how difficult and isolating the holidays can be for families with children with SEND so we have started to run a stay and play session in Swadlincote where parents can come along with their family and play and chat to other parents.

For details and to book visit out stay and play page. Children must be kept under adult supervision at all times during the session. Sessions are free of charge. Refreshments included.
